Dr. Syed Nadeem Ahmed (Group Managing Director IBL & CEO The Searle Company Limited) met with Mr. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif (Honorable Prime Minister Islamic Republic of Pakistan)

In a meeting held at Islamabad on January 4, 2023, Mr. Syed Nadeem Ahmed explained to the Honourable Prime Minister about the latest challenges being faced by the Pharmaceutical Industry of Pakistan and their possible solutions.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking time and listening during the current economic downturn.

Recent key challenges include expected shortages of medicines due to an increase in the rate of materials and production costs, along with problems faced in the importation/clearance of materials. Further, Mr. Ahmed also shared his thoughts on up-gradation of the regulatory authority & framework which can expedite the licensing, product registration & price fixation process of the pharmaceutical products.

The prime minister assured his best support to facilitate Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry in ensuring a smooth supply of the medicines.
